Real ads, annotated

Ad examples: 389 real advertisement examples, sorted and explained

These are real advertisement examples from the public Meta Ad Library, almost all still running on Facebook and Instagram, sorted by industry, ad type and brand. Under each ad we note the hook and why it works, so you can borrow the idea instead of just looking at the picture.

Every example shows the month it started running. An ad that has stayed live for months is usually paying for itself, so it's worth more study than a polished award-winner nobody paid to keep running.

Ad examples by industry

Each page collects the live ads in one category, with the hook and the reason it works written out under every ad.

Ad examples by type

The same ads, sorted by what they do: stories, testimonials, humor, persuasion, static images, and ideas you can borrow.

Famous brand ads

What well-known brands are running on Facebook and Instagram today, and how it lines up with the campaigns they are famous for.

What the strongest ads have in common

  • The offer is readable in a second. In every industry, the strongest ads put the price, the deal or the single benefit in the biggest type on the image.
  • One product, shot close. Jewelry, food, shoes and skincare all do best when the product fills the frame against a plain background.
  • Real people beat models. Creator-style videos, selfies and customer quotes show up in every category because they look like posts, not ads.
  • Big brands say less. Nike, Starbucks and Coca-Cola run a line or two of copy. Smaller brands spell out what the product is and why it's different.
  • Every ad ends with one action. Shop now, Order now, Learn more: one button, never a choice of three.

FAQ

What is an example of an advertisement?

An advertisement is any paid message that promotes a product or service. The examples on this page are paid social ads: image, video and carousel ads that brands run on Facebook and Instagram, each taken from the public Meta Ad Library.

Where can I find real ad examples?

The Meta Ad Library shows every active ad on Facebook and Instagram, searchable by brand or keyword, for free. It has no way to save or sort what you find. That's why we collect the good ones here with notes, and why our free downloader adds a save button to the library.

What are the main types of ads?

On social platforms the main formats are single image ads, video ads, carousels with several cards, and catalog ads that pull products from a store feed. By approach, the common types are testimonial ads, offer-led ads, product demos, founder or creator videos and humour.

What makes a good advertisement?

A good ad stops the scroll in the first second, makes one clear promise and asks for one action. The longest-running examples here tend to do all three with very little copy.

Can I copy these ads?

Copy the structure, not the creative. Every ad belongs to the brand running it, so use these to learn the hook, the layout and the angle, then make your own version with your product, your words and your photos.

Ads are from the public Meta Ad Library and belong to their respective brands. They are shown here for study and commentary. We do not know any advertiser’s spend or results, so we never quote them.
