Image Ads: 16 real examples running now

The best image ads running right now make one point in one frame: a comparison chart, a before and after, a product held in a hand, a dish shot close enough to taste. The single picture stops the scroll. The headline and first line of copy do the explaining, so the image itself rarely carries more than a few words.

A static image is still the fastest ad to make and test. These examples come from jewelry, food, perfume, bakery, makeup, shoes and real estate, and the same rules hold across all of them: show the result, name the buyer and give one reason to act.

Smallcakes MD ad: Smallcakes MD
Smallcakes MDRunning since November 2022

Image ad · Facebook + Instagram

Smallcakes MD

After appearances on the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars" season one, two and seven as well as on the hit daytime talk show "THE VIEW". USA TODAY listed as one of the TOP TEN CUPCAKES places to try in the country.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: The copy opens on TV credentials: Food Network's Cupcake Wars, The View and a USA Today top ten list.

Why it works

A local cupcake shop rarely gets to borrow trust from household names, so putting the press up front is the right move. The image backs it up with tiered stands full of cupcakes, which says variety and abundance. It has run since November 2022, a good sign the message keeps landing with new locals.

Acme Farms + Kitchen - PNW's local first meal kit

Looking for an affordable option for local food delivery? Our Vegetarian Box contains 3 family-size meals (each meal serves 4 people) for only $104! That's $8 a serving! Check out our meals this week and give this box a…

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A bowl of lemony pasta with broccolini and feta, paired with copy that says the box works out to "$8 a serving".

Why it works

The math does the selling: $104 sounds like a lot until it becomes three family meals that each feed four. The headline also plants a clear position, "PNW's local first meal kit", which separates it from national brands. The dish is shot close and bright enough to look like something you would cook if you had time.

Homes.com ad: Search Over 1 Million Listings For Sale Nationally.

The Premier Home Listing App

CTA: Install now

Hook: A father giving his daughter a piggyback while the rest of the family laughs in a sunny living room, under "Search Over 1 Million Listings For Sale Nationally.".

Why it works

The photo sells what a home means rather than any single house, which suits a national search app. The headline gives one big, concrete number that answers "will it have what I want?". The Install now button keeps the goal simple: get the app on the phone.

Prime Prometics ad: Mascara For Mature Lashes

Mascara For Mature Lashes

👁️ Not Just a Mascara — A Lash Revolution for Women 50+ 👁️ We didn’t make PrimeLash for the masses. We made it for you. ✔️ Gentle, hypoallergenic tubing formula ✔️ Lifts even the thinnest lashes with zero clumps ✔️…

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A side-by-side comparison chart headed "Our product developer tested tubing mascaras so you don't have to", with ticks for PrimeLash and crosses for "our competitor".

Why it works

The chart does the persuading in a format people already trust from product review sites. Each row is a feature this buyer cares about, like smudge-proof and easy to remove, so scanning it answers the main objections. The headline "Mascara For Mature Lashes" names the audience before anything else.

The Thursday Collection

☑️ The highest-quality leather boots, sneakers, & dress shoes sold at the lowest sustainable markup possible.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: Three shelves of leather boots in browns and blacks, lit like a store display against a dark background.

Why it works

The image shows the whole range at once, so the buyer starts choosing a style instead of deciding whether to look. The single line of copy makes a clear value promise: top quality at the lowest sustainable markup. That positions the brand between cheap boots and luxury labels without naming either.

CTA: Learn more

Hook: A dim, cinematic portrait of a woman draped in pearls, framed like a still from a film.

Why it works

The image sells an attitude, not a bottle, which is how a fragrance house builds desire before anyone smells the scent. The copy names the new ambassador and gives one clear idea of the woman the scent is for: someone who follows her instincts. Even a brand this big keeps the ad to one image and a few lines.

Step inside and soak up the serene beauty of our lake view home in Alpine Lake! 🏡 138 Laurel Circle.

Hook: The headline "Explore 138 Laurel Circle in 3D" over a cozy living room with a stone fireplace and wood ceiling.

Why it works

A 3D tour turns a listing ad into an experience people can try from the sofa. The street address makes it feel concrete and lets locals recognize it. The warm interior photo, with the fireplace front and centre, sells the lake-house feeling the copy describes.

Clean Eatz ad: We Meal Prep, So You Don't Have To

We Meal Prep, So You Don't Have To

A one-stop-shop for all things delicious & protein packed. Clean Eatz is a quick-service restaurant that offers no subscription meal prep services, a dine-in cafe, grab 'n' go heat & eat meals, clean & delicious snacks,…

CTA: Order now

Hook: The headline "We Meal Prep, So You Don't Have To" sits under an overhead shot of four packed meal prep containers.

Why it works

The headline names the chore and removes it in one line. The image shows variety (burrito, rice bowl, chicken and broccoli) so the buyer sees a week of options, not one dish. The body runs through a list of cravings with a playful "yup, we've got that" rhythm, which answers objections about healthy food being boring.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A clean "Prime Day Sale" graphic with a live-looking countdown and two pink boxes of the at-home lash lift kit.

Why it works

Tying the offer to a shopping event people already know gives the deadline credibility. The copy compares the kit with a $139 salon appointment and says the lift lasts eight weeks, so the buy-one-get-one feels like a real saving. The line "Your lashes aren't short, they're just straight" reframes the problem so the product becomes the obvious fix.

Sale Ends Today

"My sister said this necklace was the most thoughtful gift ❤️ She was so thrilled when she opened it up. Now she wears it every day and says she will cherish it forever 🥹" Customize Up to 7 Initials on our necklace. On…

CTA: Shop now

Hook: The ad opens on a customer quote: a sister who now wears the initial necklace every day.

Why it works

The photo shows the necklace on a real-looking neck with a hand touching it, so you see size and how the letters hang. Leading with a gift story tells the shopper who to buy it for before they think about price. "Customize up to 7 initials" plus free shipping and a sale deadline give three separate reasons to act. It has been live since March 2024, which usually means the creative keeps earning its spend.

CTA: Send message

Hook: A split image of the same brow before and after ombre powder brows, from sparse to full and defined.

Why it works

The stacked crops show the whole value of the service at a glance. The copy is written by the artist herself, opens with "Hey ladies in Columbia", and offers a free consultation, which lowers the commitment for a semi-permanent treatment. Listing the problems first (thin brows, smudging, asymmetry) lets readers recognize themselves.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A plain photo of a black and cream running shoe on a carpet, with a quote from a registered nurse.

Why it works

The photo looks like a buyer took it at home, which fits the testimonial underneath. A nurse recommending the shoe for long standing shifts gives the comfort claim a credible source and a clear audience. Marking it as a verified buyer adds one more layer of trust.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A plain phone photo of a small roll-on bottle held in a manicured hand inside a car, with the headline "You Will Wear This Forever".

Why it works

The photo looks like something a customer took, which matches the copy: a long review from a buyer who is sensitive to most perfumes but is now on her third bottle. That answers a specific objection through a real-sounding person. The candid image stands out in a feed full of polished bottle shots.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A photo of the family who runs the kitchen, all in black chef jackets, smiling at the camera.

Why it works

Most meal delivery ads show only food, so a group of real cooks stands out in the feed and builds trust. The copy leans on "family-owned" and a regional claim, and the headline puts the 40% first-order discount up front. Faces make a delivery service feel local even when it ships.

CTA: Learn more

Hook: A split graphic of two feet, one marked with red lines and one with green lines like tree roots, under "Why People Wear Barefoot Shoes?".

Why it works

The headline is a question new buyers are already asking, and the image answers it visually before any copy. The tree root comparison in the body is easy to remember. Educating first suits a category many people have not tried, and it has stayed live since October 2024.

For fans of Middle-earth 🗡️ The sword that ended darkness. Reforged for you. Shop the drop → therespawn.co

CTA: Shop now

Hook: "For fans of Middle-earth" in the first line, next to a silver sword pendant on a plain white background.

Why it works

Calling out the fandom in four words filters the audience instantly, and the people who care will stop. The line "The sword that ended darkness. Reforged for you." talks like a fan, not a store. Framing it as "the drop" adds a light sense of limited availability without a fake countdown.

Patterns across these ads

  • One subject, filling the frame. A necklace on a collarbone, a bowl of pasta, a single roll-on bottle. Close crops read at phone size and leave nothing to compete with the product.
  • Proof built into the picture. Prime Prometics uses a comparison chart and Beauty & Beyond a split before and after, so the claim is visible before anyone reads the copy.
  • Phone-camera realism. Riddle and Veloci use plain, slightly imperfect photos that look like a customer took them, which makes the testimonial beside them easier to believe.
  • Clean image, offer in the copy. Acme Farms, Nutre and Lucky Bear keep text off the photo and put the price, discount or deadline in the headline and first line.
  • People when they add trust. The family behind Nutre's kitchen, a family at play for Homes.com. Faces appear when they make the brand more believable, not as decoration.

FAQ

What is an image ad?

An image ad is a single static picture with a headline, body copy and a button, shown in the feed on Facebook, Instagram and across Meta's placements. It is the simplest ad format: no video, no carousel, one frame. That makes it quick to produce and easy to test against other versions.

Do image ads still work compared with video?

Yes. Video often wins on reach and attention, but a strong single image is cheaper to make, faster to test and often clearer for offers, comparisons and product shots. Many brands run both, using static images to test messages and angles quickly before investing in video. Several of the ads in this collection have run for months or years as plain images.

How much text should go on an image ad?

As little as you need. Most of the strong ads here have no text on the image at all, and the ones that do (a comparison chart, a sale countdown) use it because the text is the proof. Put the main message in the headline and first line of copy, where it stays readable at any size.

What size should an image ad be?

Square (1:1) and vertical (4:5) cover most feed placements on Facebook and Instagram, and 9:16 suits Stories and Reels placements. Keep the important part of the image near the centre so it survives cropping across placements. Use a high-resolution file so close-up detail stays sharp.

What makes an image ad stand out in the feed?

Contrast and focus: one clear subject, a background that does not compete, and a detail that rewards a second look, like texture, a surprising object or a face. Then make the copy specific. A price per serving, a named audience or a customer quote gives people a reason to stop scrolling and read.
