Testimonial Ads: 15 real examples running now

Testimonial ads put a customer's words or results ahead of the brand's own claims, and the strongest ones put that proof on the image itself. A five-star quote in bold type, a review count in the headline, a before and after from a real client, a creator holding the product in their own home: the viewer meets the proof before the pitch.

The formats vary more than you might expect. Some quote one named customer, some lean on volume ("Over 4,000 5-star reviews"), some tell a single customer's story in the copy, and some just look like a customer filmed them. In every case, someone other than the seller does the convincing.

CTA: Sign up

Hook: A woman holds a jar of cream to her cheek, with "This cream does exactly what it says it will" printed across the frame.

Why it works

The headline of the creative is a customer's sentence, attributed by name, which does more for a skeptical buyer than any brand claim. The Swiss alpine background matches the brand's origin, and the ask is a newsletter signup, an easy first step for a premium product. Live since April 2024.

Orthofeet ad: Walk Pain-Free or Money Back

Walk Pain-Free or Money Back

#1 Orthotic walking shoes for pain free days. "Where have these been all my life? Total comfort straight from the box! So thankful to find these to wear for work - on my feet all day.” -Julene Baars 👉 Recommended Shoes…

CTA: Shop now

Hook: "Walk Pain-Free or Money Back" as the headline over a cushioned orthotic insole.

Why it works

The device is risk reversal: the guarantee sits in the headline, so the buyer's biggest fear (shoes that do not help) is answered before they read on. The copy adds authority ("Recommended Shoes by Podiatrists") and a named customer quote about comfort straight from the box, plus free shipping and returns.

Death Wish Coffee ad: Pumpkin Chai is back

Image ad · Facebook + Instagram

Pumpkin Chai is back

Pumpkin Chai is back. Bold coffee meets cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg for a seriously bold taste of fall.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: "BEATS THE ST*RB*CKS PUMPKIN LATTE BY 1000%." in bold type over five gold stars, credited to a customer.

Why it works

Death Wish Coffee lets a customer review make the comparison, which is bolder and more believable than the brand saying it. The bag of Pumpkin Chai coffee sits under the quote next to a latte being poured, and the copy just announces that the seasonal flavour is back.

Capucinne ad: Over 4,000 5-star reviews

Over 4,000 5-star reviews

CTA: Shop now

Hook: An engagement ring with a blue stone resting in a slice of blue agate, with the headline "Over 4,000 5-star reviews".

Why it works

The headline is pure social proof. For a big purchase like an engagement ring, review volume answers the "can I trust this online jeweller?" question better than one quote would. The copy pairs it with customer support, the other worry when buying jewellery online.

CTA: Visit Instagram profile

Hook: The same client under treatment twice, stacked top and bottom: inflamed acne in one shot, clear skin in the other.

Why it works

The before and after is the whole argument. It was taken in the treatment room with protective eyewear on, which makes it read as real work rather than a stock image. The caption keeps the tone personal ("why I do what I do") and promises patience, not a miracle.

Seed Oil Free Tallow Skincare

Why is this tallow cream going viral? Because it’s like nothing on the market. Crafted with true first colostrum and locally sourced emu oil for deep repair of aging craggy skin, naturally. We've taken ancestral…

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A hand holds up a jar of tallow balm with story-style stickers reading "OMG first colostrum" and the brand handle.

Why it works

It looks like a customer's Instagram story, which earns attention that a studio product shot would not. The headline names the niche clearly ("Seed Oil Free Tallow Skincare"), so it reaches exactly the shoppers who already care about that.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A caption in the middle of the screen: "Wife is MAD thinking he forgot their anniversary, but secretly he had THIS planned..."

Why it works

The text sets up a tiny story with a cliffhanger, so people keep watching for the reveal. Filming in an ordinary kitchen keeps it feeling like a real couple's moment, and the body copy names the product, a custom song written as a gift.

Sale Ends Today

"My waterproof initial necklace is a game-changer for summer! Not only does it withstand water like a champ, but it also looks super stylish with any outfit. I've even gifted one to my bestie, and she's just as obsessed…

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A hand with bright green nails dangles a gold initial necklace against a white wall.

Why it works

The product is held up close in the centre of the frame, so the initials are readable even on a small screen. The copy is a customer's quote about wearing it all summer and gifting one to a friend, which does the persuading, and "Sale Ends Today" adds a deadline.

CTA: Shop now

Hook: A hardcover book titled "Champions" with five gold stars and "15,000+ store reviews" printed under it.

Why it works

The review count on the image tells a fan the publisher is legitimate before they click. The copy speaks like a fellow fan celebrating the win, so the product feels like part of the celebration rather than merchandise.

CTA: Listen now

Hook: A woman walks away from the camera toward a burning city, cover art for a post-apocalyptic audiobook.

Why it works

The copy borrows proof two ways: "10,000 combined reviews" across the books and a named reader's five-star quote ("Excitement, suspense and action filled!"). The headline adds authority by naming the narrator as a million-copy audio bestseller, and "4 Books for 1 Credit" states the value plainly.

THIS is bananas!!! 🍌 My customer sent me this 9 week difference in her daughter’s lashes using Borboleta! 👏🏻😳😍 As I’ve shared over and over, this lash serum has given me the BEST lashes of my life for 1/3 the cost…

Hook: Two close-ups of the same eye, the lashes visibly longer in the second.

Why it works

The caption says a customer sent in the photos of her daughter after nine weeks, so the proof comes from a buyer, not the seller. The reseller adds her own experience (better lashes for a third of what she paid before), which reads as a personal recommendation rather than an ad.

CTA: Get quote

Hook: Three photos of a roof job in progress with the headline "Don't Overpay THOUSANDS On A New Roof".

Why it works

The copy tells one customer's story: he got three quotes, and this roofer was the first to inspect the roof. For a big home purchase, a short case study like that convinces more than a star rating, and the job photos show the crew at work on real houses.

Hook: A smiling customer leans on the white sedan she just bought in the dealership lot.

Why it works

The customer delivery photo is a classic dealership testimonial: a real buyer, a real car, a happy moment. For a buyer worried about their credit, seeing someone like them drive away is more reassuring than any rate. The headline asks for a 60-second check, a small first step.

CTA: Learn more

Hook: A pile of colourful training underwear on a living room table, under the headline "Potty Train in Weeks, Not Months".

Why it works

The copy is written as one mother's story, starting in the middle of a frustrating moment every parent recognizes. That first-person testimony makes the solution feel tested by someone in the same situation, and the headline promises a specific outcome.

Patterns across these ads

  • The quote is the headline. Death Wish Coffee and Niance print a customer's sentence in large type on the creative, so the testimonial is the first thing read.
  • Review counts as the offer. "Over 4,000 5-star reviews" and "15,000+ store reviews" turn volume into the selling point, which works when a single quote would feel cherry-picked.
  • Before and after from real clients. Treatment and beauty ads split the frame into two shots of the same person, taken in the same room, so the result speaks for itself.
  • One customer's story in the copy. The roofing ad tells what happened when a customer got three quotes, a case study compressed into a caption.
  • Customer-style footage. Several ads look like a buyer filmed them: a phone held up to show a necklace, a jar in a hand with story stickers, a happy customer next to their new car.

FAQ

What is a testimonial ad?

An ad that uses a customer's own words, rating or result as its main proof. That can be a quoted review, a star rating with a review count, a before and after photo, or a video that looks like a real customer talking. It works because people trust other buyers more than they trust the brand.

How do you make a testimonial ad that people believe?

Use a real, specific quote with a name or source, and keep the customer's own phrasing. "Beats the St*rb*cks pumpkin latte by 1000%" is more believable than a polished line because it sounds like a person. Pair it with the product in the frame, and don't edit reviews into marketing copy.

Can you use customer reviews in Facebook ads?

Yes, and many of the ads here do. Use reviews you actually received, get permission for names and photos, and do not imply results that are not typical. Meta's advertising standards also restrict before and after images in some categories, so check the rules for yours.

Should a testimonial ad show the customer or the product?

Ideally both, but the product must be in frame. The ads here that hold up put the quote or rating over a clear product shot, or show a real person using the product. A quote on a plain background loses people who do not know what is being sold.
