Ad Maker, the ad-writing skill for Claude
Ad Maker is a free, open-source Claude skill for writing ad creative: hooks, short-form scripts, UGC briefs, storyboards, angle matrices and AI image-ad prompts. It ships with 30 original hook frameworks, so it works as soon as you install it. You don't need an account or a key.

Eight commands cover the whole ad-writing workflow, from the first line to the shot list.
Every hook is built on a named framework, so each line it writes comes with the reason it should work.
It writes for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and Meta feed placements, in the format each one expects.
- /ad-hooks10 hooks across different angles and triggers
- /ad-scriptA full short-form ad script: hook, body, CTA
- /ugc-briefA creator-ready brief with talking points and a shot list
- /storyboardA script turned into a timed shot list
- /ad-anglesAn angle matrix across awareness stages
- /hook-auditA scorecard on your hook with specific rewrites
- /hook-remixOne winning hook spun into 5 variations
- /image-ad-prompt5 AI image-ad concepts with paste-ready prompts
Add a HookAds key for more
Out of the box the skill uses its 30 bundled frameworks. Set a HookAds API key and it can also search the full library: all 118 frameworks, 1,800+ AI ad prompts with their images, teardowns and Meta's placement specs. The free key covers 100 calls a day.

Questions
Is the skill free?
Yes. It is MIT-licensed and needs no account. A free HookAds key opens up the larger library, but you don't need it.
Does it work outside Claude code?
It works in any agent that loads Anthropic-style skills, meaning a SKILL.md file with commands, references and data folders.
What is the difference between the skill and the MCP server?
The skill is a set of instructions and bundled data that lives on your machine. The MCP server is a live connection to the HookAds library. Use the skill for writing. Add the MCP server or an API key when you want it to search real prompts and teardowns.
